Speaking from experience- Content

Basically my content consisits of my list of quotes I have gathered from around the class about things people have leaned since moving awayto uni. Using type I am going to illustrate these to make them more visual and playful. These quotes are going tobe light hearted experiences and warning just to let the new students what they can expect and shed some light humour on it.

These are a few of the designs I've done so far, I still need to put them into speech bubbles for the stickers etc but so far I'm just producing the type. I havebeen hand drawing the letters then scanning them in and adjusting and filling them on photoshop.

I'm still not too sure on some of the colours to use I just need to play around and try different variations to find the best.

Speaking from experience- Type drawings

I started all of my quotes in a sketchbook just drawing out different styles I could possibly use, trying to find the best and most appropriate to the quote if it needed to be. Then finialising them with a fineliner and taking them on to a copmuter. I found it hard to think of the best type to use for some of them, there seems to be a similar theme with them but I suppose this may look like there is an intended theme throughout.

Speaking from expperience- Type visuals

I just started to draw down some ideas to illustrate the quotes with type. I want them to quite fun and easy going. I've begun with the 'cheese is really expensive' quote and drawn this above. I looked at using the wholey in the letters like the kind of chesse you see in cartoons etc. I don't want the format to just be straight, standard lines but more interactive and intricate. Hopefully if I improve it and finish it off it will work well. I'm thinking of possibly screen printing the designs as it's soemthing I havn't used in my work yet but would really like to.

Speaking from experience- Freshers packs research

I'm looking at freshers pack to get an idea of what exists for freshers in the way of giving out free products that will appeal to students.

There seems to be a lot of brown packages created already, maybe something different to this would be best. They all seem to be quite basic too with some kind of logo or design on.

This is probably the most unique one I've come across,kind of looks like some kind of laundry basket but with slogan on it makes it appeal. I also like the fact that it can be carried as it has handles like a little bag.

The Don't Panic pack is something we recieved on freshers, more of an envelope than a box which I'm looking at making. However it works really well and something which is recognised over a range of people.

I decided I need some kind of visual theme torun through my products and since I'm using quotes I decided on speech bubbles. I looked at my options I could use with these and decided that somekind of 3D speech bubble boxes or packaging was something I wanted to work with.

So when I looked into just focusing on some kind of food range I decided that wasn't what I wanted to do but use all of the quotes that I gathered which are a range of topics from uni life.

I came up with some ideas of products and then some more specific to the quotes I liked.

In order to help me come up with product ideas I looked into freshers week and the kind of things you recieve on the first week. There are a lot of things that students would just discard and through away without even looking at what it is. There areso many leafletsand flyers gien out that to make them pay attention it would have tobe something different, something that stands out from the rest.
